Extensions and Refurbishment

House extensions are growing in popularity as more and more home owners decide to extend their homes rather than sell and buy a bigger property. With our expertise in building energy efficient homes we can ensure that the new build is highly energy efficient while also ensuring that the current building performs just as well.

We understand that the last thing you will want is a difference in performance between the new and existing part of your home. By using the correct insulation, thermal bridging and air tightness techniques in your existing building we can transform the performance of the envelope. Larger house extensions require approval under the Building Regulations. Smaller extensions (under 40m2) don’t require planning permission, providing you build within certain guidelines.

Before and After Example

O’Gorman Homes were employed by the client to refurbish and extend a 1970’s semi-detached property in Douglas Cork. This included a folding sliding door system allowing removal of the glazed wall by simply sliding back the doors on to a beautifully decked garden area. As an older property a key focus of the refurbishment was energy efficiency.
